Crochet Shawl Pattern & Video Tutorial For Beginners

Pattern written in US terms

Material: DK weight yarn in 3 colours (100 g of each color) and 4 mm crochet hook.

Abbreviations:

• Ch: chain
• St: stitch
• Sk: skip
• Ch sp: chain space
• Sl st: slip stitch
• Dc: double crochet

Pattern notes:

• The shawl is worked in rows.
• Ch3 in the beginning of row counts as dc.

Shawl’s FREE Pattern:

With colour 1,

• Ch6, sl st in 1st ch to create a ring.
• Ch3, 2dc in ring, ch2, 3dc in ring, turn.
• Ch7, sl st in ch2 sp, ch3, 2dc in same ch sp, ch2, 3dc in same ch sp, turn.

Repeat row 2 until the length of the stripe is 190 cm.
To finish stripe, ch3, sl st in ch2 sp. Cut yarn and weave in ends.

With colour 2,

• Ch6, sl st in 1st ch to create a ring.
• Ch3, 2dc in ring, ch2, 3dc in ring.
• Ch4, sl st in 1st ch7 sp of colour 1 stripe.

• Now continue in colour 2 stripe,

Ch3, sl st in ch2 sp, ch3, 2dc in same ch sp, ch2, 3dc in same ch sp, turn.

• Ch7, sl st in ch2 sp, ch3, 2dc in same ch sp, ch2, 3dc in same ch sp, turn.
• Ch4, sl st in next ch7 sp of colour 1 stripe.

• Repeat rows 5-7 until the length of previous colour. To finish stripe, ch3, sl st in ch2 sp. Cut yarn and weave in ends.

With colour 3, repeat rows 3-8. Colour 3 will be joined to colour 2.
Similarly, alternate between colours 1, 2, 3 joining with the previous coloured stripe. Total number of stripes is 10 making the width of the shawl 45 cm.
